Excalibur Fabick Twin Bonanza |
The original prototype Model 50 Twin Bonanza, c/n H-1, made its first flight on Nov. 15, 1949, only 223 days from its start on the drawing board. The Model 50 was designed as a light, multi-engine airplane marketed between the Model 35 Bonanza, and the larger, heavier Model D18S. The Model 50 continued to mature from 1951-1963 when production stopped with the Model J50. This aircraft was donated by Joe Fabick of Stuart, FL in October, 2004.
Beechcraft D-50E, N14VU, c/n DH-326, was converted to an Excalibur 800 version. The modifications included an airstair door, engines were converted to direct drive Lycoming IO-720-A1A (400 hp.) from the original geared Lycoming GO-480-G2F6 (295 hp) with low-drag nacelles & full closure gear doors.
